Confluent and reticulated papillomatosis, also known as Gougerot–Carteaud syndrome, was first described in 1927. It is a rare, benign and usually non-pruritic dermatosis that can lead to widespread and unsightly pigmentary change on the skin. Onset is usually in adolescence and early adulthood.
