Ticks were once considered mainly a problem for livestock farmers and only a minor problem for humans. Since the discovery of Lyme borreliosis, the awareness of ticks and the diseases they carry has increased. However, there are still numerous misunderstandings about these secretive arthropods, as well as a lack of available, accurate and useful information for both the public and healthcare professionals.
