BSF-funded study explores the link between diet and psoriasis severity

Research supported by the British Skin Foundation, led by Dr Thivi Maruthappu and Professor Wendy Hall, is shedding light on the crucial role of diet in psoriasis severity and related health risks. Psoriasis, a chronic inflammatory skin condition, not only affects the skin but has also been linked to an increased risk of other chronic conditions, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity. Despite the significant health implications, dietary guidance is not currently a routine part of psoriasis care in the UK, mainly due to a lack of robust scientific evidence that demonstrates a clear connection between diet and the severity of psoriasis.
