Pressure groups, social media and clinical practice

I would like to start this article with a definition: pressure group – a group that tries to influence public policy in the interest of a particular cause. Current dermatology practice has never been more in the spotlight; with the increasing use of social media, we find ourselves in a world where individual opinion and beliefs are, at times, challenging accepted medical practice.

I am sure many of you will have come across the following two key examples I have chosen to highlight.
