Recurrent perioperative problems

Angioedema is a relatively common feature of chronic spontaneous urticaria and is most frequently encountered in this context by dermatologists. It may also occur acutely because of immediate hypersensitivity reactions or as an adverse effect of certain medications. Less commonly, angioedema can arise from rarer aetiologies and, in some cases, drug-induced causes may be covert or unrecognised, requiring a high index of suspicion for accurate diagnosis.
